Baby Monitors are improving with technology, but there is still improvement to be made. After reading many of the reviews out there and the customer comments, we found that there is a consensus among moms and dads that points to these 3 audio monitors and these two video monitors.

Are these really the best?
The baby monitors we have compared are only those that are receiving 5 star ratings at the baby stores and at Amazon, right now, in September of 2006. Not everyone agrees of course, but you can be assured that every monitor has customer reviews that lean heavily towards being a quality item that is worth spending your money on.

3 Types of Baby Monitors
Basically, there are Audio monitors so that you can hear what is going on in that crib without having to be there, movement monitors that assure that ther is not absolute stillness since every baby moves when they are sleeping and video monitors that let you actually look in the room.

When it comes to picking the best baby monitors, the Graco iMonitor gets the highest marks for audio hands down and we have compared both the single and double receiver prices for you. The Bebe sounds Angelcare monitor covers sound and movement and still comes in at less than $100. For Video, there were two choices with high marks depending on other equipment you have in your home.

A note about Frequency
The advancement ot the cordless telephone and wireless computers is helping parents hear when your baby needs you. At the same time, the different components of this wireless technology do interfere with each other. Not tat if you are running a wireless router in your home for your computer, you cannot get a baby monitor (or telephone for that matter) that runs on 2.4 ghz because the router and your device will interfere with each other. We have tracked down the best deals for both a 2.4 ghz and a 900 mhz baby monitor, to cover this for you.

A note to the wise is that a lot of the review sites we read were giving high marks to the Fisher-Price Sounds 'N' Lights, but upon closer review of the good comments they were all dated 2002 and before. This monitor actually runs on 49 mhz. This lower frequency will pick up or be heard on neighbors phones, so spend the extra to go to the 900 mhz. Reviews of this item have declined as we read more recent reviews and therefore we are not recommending this as one of the best baby monitors.
