Turning
off your Ad Blocker Explanation
Thanks for taking
the time to read this explanation of why you need to do the extra work
of turning off your Norton Ad Blocker in order to see this website. Instructions
are below
As you will note. Everything on this page is visible. It is not egazing.com
that has been targeted.
Egazing does not use spyware of any kind!
This year, not only the picture ads and banners were turned off,
but also the text links that offer you discounts and coupons.
The new version of Norton Internet Security comes with ad blocker automatically
turned on and in order to shop deals and bargains and see most of the
links and ads on this site, you will need to deactivate this feature.
Is it safe to turn this off?
Your first thought is probably, "Why should I turn this off? If it
came with the computer, isn't this the way it should be?"
That was the same thought I had when I obtained my new copy. Even though
I run this website, there is nothing more annoying than the "Winner,
winner, winner" ad that I see across the internet and one of the
reasons I have the internet security is so that all those #$^%^& popup
banner ads and windows just plain drive me crazy!!
If you will note, we do NOT direct you to sites that generate those pop-up
banners and you will never get those type of advertisements when you visit
egazing.com. When one of those sites begins this type of advertising,
our relationship is over. Period.
I do not suggest that you turn off the popup ad blocker on Norton. I certainly
have not.
Somewhere in the process of making surfing the web easier for you, the
higher ups at Norton made the decision to have this adblocker eliminate
not only all the annoying ads, but also all the ads from the big stores
too. Yes, all the department stores like Target, Overstock.com, Kohl's,
etc are all turned off.
By targeting the text links that offer you discounts and coupons, they
seem to me to have crossed the line to saving money on the web.
I am sure that the intention was so that you did not have to be annoyed
by all those flashing ads, but if you have arrived at this site, you are
obviously shopping and looking for some kind of bargain. The ads that
are present on egazing.com are not some rogue "problem," they
are legitimate offers and advertisements from big manufacturers and respected
stores that you shop at every day.
Ads from not only the major stores, but also Yahoo, Microsoft and more
have been automatically turned off with this feature.
Hopefully, in the future some kind of distinction will be made between
a respected store that the majority of online shoppers would be happy
to shop at and the scum that are surely related to the people who have
managed to destroy the wonderful potential of email. I can only hope!
In the meanwhile, since Norton is now shipped on over 90% of all new computers
and arrives at your house configured in this way, I have included the
instructions for you to be able to view all the deals, coupons and bargains
at egazing.com
Thank you for reading this explanation and I would be happy to hear any
questions or comments.
Instructions for viewing all of egazing.com
1. Click and open the Norton Internet Security window.
2. Click and highlight the Ad Blocker line in the bottom half of this
main window.
3. Click on the "configure" tab in the bottom right hand corner
of this window
4. Uncheck the "ad blocker" box
(You do not have to uncheck the popup window box, in fact I suggest you
do not)
That's it. Simple. Happy e-Gazing!
